When I was at college, one of my housemates used to annoy the rest of us by constantly shouting “rubbish” whenever he was angered by anything he saw on the television news.

Back in those days, he had little opportunity to express his feelings directly to the programme makers. Not so nowadays.

We have always encouraged you to contact us with your opinions on the day’s stories. Scores of you add comments every day to the blogs here on the Sky News website and we read out many of your emails, texts and blog comments on air.

My appointment as the Viewers’ Editor for Sky News shows that we take your opinions seriously. I’m always on the look-out for interesting points of view, personal experiences, news stories, photographs and video.
