As MPs prepare to vote on the plans to allow scientists to carry out research using hybrid human-animal embryos, there's been a series of good debates on Sky News already.
Some of the most passionate comments - either for or against the research - have come from those of you with personal experience of chronic illnesses.
It has been a well-argued debate with some interesting points of view - thank you for all your comments.

For André Kruis, Randburg, South Africa: If God, or god cared he / she / it would have done something about it by now.
Serve-up unto me the little children. His / her / its wish granted: lots of little hybrids in test-tubes.
Just goes to show how much your god really cares: not a bit!
Get real people: this is the future whether you like it or not: its been happening int he plant kingdom for over 30 years, welcome to the future of animal biology.

Obviously a huge debate this one, and a lot of bitter comments, woman wanting to do away with men and vice versa, strange?
But no need to worry, as history has proved time and again, when you interfere with nature, it always has a way of leveling things out or doing away with a species altogether. Takes a little time that's all then all these bitter people won't have to gripe anymore, Pheeww!

As well as hybrid-embryos as the new big thing from the UK, we are also stuck with a problem when we look at the effect of the donating egg and sperm, which
is about children who are donor-conceived but whose opinions are rarely mentioned.
They see the donors as their parents.
I just want to stick up for the children involved - after all, this is about children. Is parenting about duties, nappy changing and all? Because if it is, then family nannies could be considered parents too. So let's stop moving these childrens' goal-posts, so that they can have the same rights as others' instead of being hi-jacked to please adults.

HELP, news people, to give us some UNSLANTED informaation on this very emotive subject. What is done to embyos? Is the umbilical cord only used for stem cells or are embryos poked around in jars? Or..? And why, whenever an embyo is fully formed in the womb, is ITS' right not protected in law as a vulnerable person? What exactly are we saying yes to?

Women require the choice that the current limit provides...issues of morality are up to the individual. Once again, others attempt to decide what is the 'right' decision for a woman to make. Congratulations to the government for upholding the status quo and seeing through those attempting to hijak the Hybrid embryo bill.
....and lets thank God that He stayed out of it.

Having children without fathers is what women have been doing for years, they didn't have a choice. As soon as they were told a baby was due a lot of men would disappear. Now that women have become more independent, who needs men. If a man wants a child he needs a woman to carry it for him.

Obviously, the government doesn't realise that the baby is alive after six months. To be honest, I really wonder if any of the other parties know as well.
And as for mothers having children without fathers, no comment. Another way of trying to shut men down. Either you want real men or not, you can decide.

A very sad indictment on this nation that it has become notorious for teenage pregnancy, binge drinking, abortion and now it's on the brink of cross breeding with animals how perverse. Just as no cures have arisen from human embryos (i.e. babies)- is that human sacrifice? No cures will emerge from this abominable venture alot of nasty suprises will though.
CHOOSE LIFE NEVER DEATH!!!!!

It is sickening to see how twisted the British people have become. Today your parliament, under the leadership of a totally uninspiring Prime Minister, voted in an abomination "to save future generations" Tomorrow you'll approve another abomination, to kill off the future generation even quicker! Nowhere is God mentioned or His views considered in this entire debate, not even from your so-called Christians clergy. How sad a nation you have become!

If people are so anti Hybrid embryos, why are they not for using pure Human ones? Or is it that the real issue, in the extraction of stem cells, is that it proves that making babies doesn't rely on magic?
